Frequently Asked Questions
Q: So, how's this work?
A: As strange as it may seem, we come to you to fix your bike(s). We'll show up with a fully equipped mobile workshop. Simply give us a call or send an email to set up an appoinment.
Q: When will my bike be repaired?
A: We can fix most bikes within one to two business days of your call or email to make an appointment. We make appointments 7 days a week between 7am and 7pm.
Q: What do you charge?
A: Check out the Prices section for pricing details. We also have individual labor charges if there is no need for a full tune-up or overhaul. While you're researching everything, you might as well have a look at the specials to see if you can save any money with current offers.
Q: What's the difference between a tune-up and overhaul, and how do I know which I need?
A: There is a big difference. A tune-up adjusts everything head-to-toe on the bicycle while an overhaul includes a complete strip-down, cleaning, and rebuild of the bicycle. Most casual cyclists get one to two tune-ups per year and an overhaul every one to three years.
Q: What will you need to know when I make an appointment?
A: We will ask you for a detailed description of the bike (type, make, model, age, use, etc.) and the problem(s) to be fixed. We’ll need to know if there is anything that is clearly broken, or needs to be replaced. In some cases, we may ask you to email us pictures of the bike in order to provide an accurate price quote. Of course, we’ll also need to know where to go, and a contact number in case we get lost.
Q: Can I bring my bike to you?
A: Spinners Mobile Bicycle Repair is the bike shop that comes to you. We do not have a traditional business location for you to drop off your bike. Pick-up and delivery is available at no extra charge. Or we can meet somewhere convenient for you and we’ll deliver your bike once it’s finished.
Q: What parts do you have in stock?
A: We always have the most common replacement parts in stock. This includes tubes, tires, chains, cables, cable housing, and brake pads. We also keep a limited selection of derailleurs, cassettes, seats, accessories, and other small parts. If you have something specific in mind, let us know and we can usually get it within a few days.
Q: Do you charge more to install mail-ordered parts or parts that I don’t get from you?
A: Of course not. We know it’s unrealistic to have everything you could possibly want in stock at all times. See the complete labor price list to get an idea of installation charges for various parts.
Q: Mind if I watch?
A: Nope. If you want to watch, we assume that you want to learn. So don’t be surprised if we put you to work, but beware, bike repair is dirty work. You may also want to check out our lessons where you and your friends can learn bicycle maintenance and repair.
Q: Do I get anything for referrals?
A: Absolutely. The overwhelming majority of our customers come from word-of-mouth referrals, and we appreciate it. Our referral offers vary, so we'll share that with you after your first service.
Q: Do you accept credit cards?
A: We are able to accept credit card payments through PayPal payments. We will also accept cash, check, or Electric Check using ING DIRECT Electric Orange®
